Meet Your Linen Loaf Bread Bag
Fresh bread deserves a beautiful place to land.
Hive to Home's bread bags are currently in production at the Prescott Group. The bags will be listed here when they are ready.
Thank you for supporting Hive to Home and Wraps and choosing a reusable, thoughtfully made alternative for storing homemade bread. Hive to Home's linen loaf bags are designed to help keep your bread cozy, breathable, and ready for everyday life, from fresh sourdough to sandwich loaves and everything bread in between.
Why Linen?
I chose 100% linen made from European flax because it’s naturally breathable, durable, and timeless. Unlike plastic bags or airtight containers, linen allows airflow, which can help reduce excess moisture and support a better crust texture for homemade bread.
Linen is also:
Reusable
Long lasting
Naturally beautiful
A lower waste storage option for everyday kitchens
Available in a range of colours
Best Use Practices
A few simple tips can help you get the most out of your loaf bag:
Let bread cool completely
Always allow bread to cool fully before placing it in the bag. Warm bread creates condensation, which can lead to excess moisture and faster spoilage.
Store at room temperature
Linen loaf bags work best for short term countertop storage. Keep your bread in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Expect a natural bread experience
Homemade bread behaves differently than store bought bread with preservatives. Crusty loaves may soften slightly in the bag over time, while sandwich loaves often stay nicely balanced. Sourdough may become slightly more firm on the outside, which will make cutting it easier.
Freeze for longer storage
If you won’t finish your loaf within a few days, slice and freeze part of it.
Shake out crumbs regularly
A quick shake outside helps keep your bag fresh between uses.
Washing & Care Instructions
To help preserve the natural fibres and shape of your linen loaf bag, here are some best practices for freshening up when needed:
Gentle wipe with a cloth (cold water)
If you feel you need to spot wash the bag, put a drop of mild dish soap on the bag, rub gently, rinse with cold water
Avoid scrubbing
Avoid hot water
Because linen is a natural fibre, some soft wrinkling is completely normal and part of its charm. Hive to Home's bread bags are sewn by Prescott Group with prewashed linen, and 100% cotton drawstrings. The coating on the beeswax breadbags is beeswax, jojoba oil, and pine rosin.
Made with Intention
Our loaf bags are thoughtfully made in partnership with Prescott Group, a social enterprise that creates meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities in Nova Scotia.
Hive to Home is a Nova Scotia Loyal member, and 5% of sales are donated to the Dalhousie Beekeeping Society.
Thank you for supporting small business, reusable alternatives, and products made with care.
